Stanton, IA is a proud community of around 700 people located seven miles east of Red Oak on Highway 34. Stanton is best known for its Swedish heritage, which can be experienced through the Swedish Heritage and Cultural Center, located in the center of town, and the Swedish Coffeepot Water Tower, known as the largest in the world. In 1997 Stanton was honored as the top tourism community in Iowa (pop. under 5000) because of these attractions.
Stanton is also the home of Viking Lake, a popular state park used for fishing, swimming, camping, boating, picnicking, and hiking.
